Called the hospital back and received information for James Farner but
she was uncertain of the correct phone number, per operator it could be 5167 or
5767. Called the first number given and was unable to speak with James. Called
the BNSF Service Interruption Desk to speak with Stephen Treaster who reported
spill to CalOES. Received information for James Farner (909-267-5167) and per
Steven the railcar has been moved to a hazmat pit and is no longer leaking. Asked
if he knew who would be conducting the clean up and he said possibly a 3rd party
contractor but he is unsure and James would be the point of contact. Called and
spoke with James Farner with BNSF who stated that the trailer has been moved to
a hazmat pit awaiting clean up. A clean up contractor will be called to conduct
clean up. The release has been stopped. Per James the diesel is no longer
leaking and the release was less than one-gallon and was just a light spray and
did not leave the rail car or reach the ground. EHD requested photos of the clean
up and updates of the clean up. Generated complaint. (48 minutes)
EHD received photos of the clean up and requested information on clean up and
waste generated. Per James the mechanic who repaired the unit wiped down the
rail car before a clean up crew was able to go to facility. The mechanic company
was unknown. No diesel staining was observed in the photos provided. (12
minutes)
Created OIR and emailed to John Brainard. (24 minutes)
10/03/2022 Called James Farner again to see if he knew what mechanic did the repair. He still PRESTO
does not know and said he did not keep track of the situation because it was such
a small amount that the mechanic just wiped it off with a cloth.
Printed documents
10/05/2022 Printed photos from James Farner. Placed in file. PRESTO
11/04/2022 Reviewed packet for abatement. Printed Log2 and 5105. PRESTO
5105.rpt Page 1 of 1
