The spill occured on 2/10/23 at GARCIA-MEJIA
approximately 3am. A 1-gallon jug of hydrochloric acid was punctured by a forklift.
Spill was contained and did not impact any water ways or storm drains. The
responsible party's environmental contractor, Hazmat 1, retained Patriot
Environmental Services to conduct clean up. Per Phillip Stark, with Hazmat 1, the
impacted cardboard was packed into a 95-gallon overpack drum and the gallon
jug along with other clean up material was placed in a 15-gallon drum. In total 1
95-gallon and 1 15-gallon poly
drum of waste were generated. Waste generated will be stored on site pending
profiling and disposal.
Inspection report was emailed to Phillip Stark at hml @haz-matresponse.com.
Provide final disposal records to the EHD for the waste generated.
Phillip requested clean up photos from Patriot Environmental and will provide them
to me when he receives them. I created a complaint and issued the facility an
inspection report.
Per Phillip who spoke with Patriot, sodium bicarbonate was used to neutralize the
acid and no pH of the waste was taken because it will be disposed of as
hazardous waste. Phillip also confirmed that there were no exposures. Phillip
stated that no pH was taken of the ground where the spill occurred.
02/13/2023 Called Phillip since I never received photos of the clean up. Phillip stated he GARCIA-MEJIA
requested them again from Patriot since he never received them. He stated that
as soon as he receives them he will send them to me. Received photos of the
clean up from Phillip, printed them and added them to the file.
Printed out all necessary forms and abated the complaint.
5105.rpt Page 1 of 1
