Received
reporting party information. Called reporting party, Justin with Union Pacific
Railroad. Spoke with Justin who stated a golfer on the golf course noticed the
smell but could not describe what it smelled like. Per Justin the golfer stated it
didn't smell normal. Justin was checking when EHD would respond to the incident.
Informed him we would not be responding unless we know ahead of time what the
material was so we are wearing the appropriate PPE. Asked Justin if he knows
what is on the railcar, he stated that one of the shipping documents for the train
show chlorine so it would potentially be chlorine but he is uncertain what it exactly
is. Justin stated that he spoke with his hazmat maanger and they may be sending
Patriot Environmental out there to investigate. He also provided a better address
closer to the area - 11612 N Pearson Rd, Lodi. Asked Justin to please let me
know after they find out what the material is. Also asked him to make a report to
Cal OES of a potential release.
Called Union Pacific Railraod back and spoke with Hailey regarding the incident.
Per Hailey, the updated notes show that the remediation will be complete within
the next 30 minutes, there were not hazardous materials released, approximately
15-gallons of soybean oil were observed on the side of the railcar. Asked her
about the odor and mentioned that there was a potential chlorine on board. She
stated the the notes don't show anything about chlorine and possibly it was the
soybean oil that the golfer smelt.
51 05. rpt Page 1 of 2
