Ray Menebroker -2- January 11 , 1984
None of the CSI samples on XAD were analyzed. However, all of the ambient
samples on XAD were analyzed; no pesticides were detected.
Atomic absorption analysis (AIHL Lab No. 31598B) of the "Hi-vol" PM samples
showed each of seven analate metals present in the air at concentrations
at least two orders of magnitude below NIOSH/OSHA workplace standards.
Except for barium, the airborne concentrations on-site were not significantly
greater than off-site at the control location.
In summary, all samples designed to indicate emissions from the surface
produce negative or inconclusive (due to contaminated blanks) results.
All the ambient air samples analyzed indicated air pollutant concentrations
at least two orders of magnitude below any workplace standard by NIOSH
or OSHA. Because of these low results and the very few residences or
workplaces within a mile of the landfill , we see no reason for further
testing or for submitting these results to the Department of Health Services
for risk analysis at this time.
Attachments
