LANDFILL FACILITY, SOIL REMEDIATION PAD (SRP), SAN JOAQUIN
COUNTY
In response to your letter of 12 January 1995, and a followup telephone conversation with Arnie
Inouye of my staff, we have reviewed your proposal to use the existing SRP for the treatment of
petroleum contaminated soils stockpiled in"Waste Management Unit G. We have no objections to
your proposal as long as the work is accomplished within the permitted area, and is in compliance
with the Waste Discharge Requirements. Also, the original approval of the SRP required that
sampling be accomplished prior to pad use and at its closure. Sampling of the pad must be done
before you initiate treatment of the stockpiled material. As an alternative you may develop and
implement a vadose zone monitoring program for the SRP.
If you have any questions, please call Arnie Inouye at (916) 255-3138.
WILLIAM J.
