1999-2000 WINTERIZATION PLAN
1. Reseeding and Erosion Control
The condition of the vegetative cover of Forward Landfill has been evaluated and
areas that require reseeding or areas that seeding has not been required and now
are, have been scheduled for early fall. All areas that require additional erosion
control measures construction slope, compaction, drainage, ditches, and piping are
being attended to and will be completed before winter.
a. WMU "E" Closure
During the spring of 1999 WMU "E" was closed. A one (1) to two (2) foot layer of
compacted clay was applied over WMU "E" followed by a geosynthetic clay liner
(GCL). Then 60mile/HDPE Geomemrane was applied followed by geocomposite
drainage net, a final minimum of 1.5 feet of vegetative layer will be applied and
hydro -seeded. WMU "E" is graded so that all water contacting the south and
western parts of WMU "E" will be directed to the storm water pond. The Northern
and Eastern parts of WMU "E" will have an interface liner installed and will receive
waste. The leachate will be collected by the leachate collection system (LC5)
installed in D99 and delivered to the leachate evaporation pond (WMU F).
Winter2000.doc
r.
1999-2000 WINTERIZATION PLAN
1.
