SAFETY
1.0 Hazards to Occupants - Proximity to moving vehicles/vessels; steep slopes; fast moving waterways, unstable foundations
(soils or floodplains):
The encampment sits on the crown and water side of a levee and on both sides there are steep slopes- although the grade of the
slope on the channel side varies. The channel can have fast rising and moving water in a heavy storm. No vehicular traffic, but
near very close proximity to an active railroad trestle that crosses the channel. The occupants walk along the railroad trestle
to cross the river.
2.0 Generating many calls for service to emergency responders:
This information was requested from the Stockton Police and Stockton Fire Departments; however, the information was not
received before the signing of this evaluation.
3.0 Difficulty in providing emergency services to the site due to factors such as location or density of the encampment:
The levee that the encampment is on is to have a locked gate to block vehicular traffic, but Stockton Police & Fire Departments
have keys to the locked gates in case of emergency. Since the encampment abuts a public bike trail, once past the blocked
gates emergency vehicles can safely get to and into the encampment.
4.0 Fire hazards or uncontrolled fires (tall weeds, accumulation of combustible items, use of fires for cooking/ heat, liquid or
gas fuel supplies or equipment, lack of ingress/egress):
Environmeittal Health Department 11868 E.
