ERTS Emergency Response and Training Solutions
Emergency Response:
On January 13, 2023, at 1718 ET, FedEx Ground retained Emergency Response and Training
Solutions (ERTS) to manage and oversee environmental operations. ERTS dispatched Patriot
Environmental Services of Sacramento, CA to conduct cleanup operations.
Regulatory Notifications:
On January 13, 2023, at 1740 ET, ERTS notified the California Emergency Management Agency
of the release. Chen Xiong received the call and issued reference number 23-0430. At 1742 ET,
ERTS notified the Fresno County CUPA of the release. Shannon Ballwahn received the call but
did not issue a reference number.
Corrective Action:
On January 13, 2023, Patriot Environmental Services personnel arrived onsite and observed a 6ft-
by-15ft and a smaller 5ft-by-3ft area of the asphalt parking lot impacted by the released diesel
fuel. Patriot Environmental Services personnel deployed granular absorbents to the impacted
areas and then Simple Green was applied to the areas to reduce staining. Patriot Environmental
Services personnel collected the spent absorbents and placed into one 55-gallon metal drum. The
waste generated from this cleanup was left onsite for disposal as directed by FedEx Ground.
Photos from Patriot Environmental Services' response are attached in Appendix 2.
Waste Disposal:
The waste generated from this event will be disposed of by FedEx Ground's contracted hazardous
waste vendor. For additional information, please contact FedEx Ground.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
The release has been completely remediated and no evidence was found that suggests any
significant environmental impact remains on the site. ERTS suggests that this project be closed,
and no further remedial action be taken.
ERTS and FedEx Ground appreciate your assistance in this matter. If you have any questions
regarding this project, please do not hesitate to contact me at (440) 708-4001.
Respectfully,
Ra_eiLt C.41t,
Rachel Kish
Project Manager
Emergency Response and Training Solutions
ERIS
11231 Phillips Industrial Blvd. Bldg. 1, Ste 300 • Jacksonville, FL 32256 • USA
phone number: 440.349.2700 I fax number: 440.349.6713
ertsonline.com
