Below I have provided clarification between the two vapor pressure methods .
Reid Vapor Pressure : is performed at a fixed/specific temperature of 37 . 8 ° C ( 100 °F) and is
defined as the absolute vapor pressure exerted by the vapor of the liquid and any dissolved
gases/water at 37 . 8 ° C ( 100 °F) . An acceptable RVP method is ASTM D6378 and can be
correlated to another RVP method ASTM D5191 .
Vapor Pressure : The vapor pressure is specific because it is based on the molecular vapor
pressures of each of the individual components and then combined to provide the overall result
of the additive package at different temperatures and is usually depicted as a vapor pressure
curve .
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions .
Sincerely,
n, 43k
U
Jody Kocsis
Senior Fuel Deployment Manager
29400 Lakeland Blvd.
Wickliffe, OH 44092-2298
Jody.Koesis@Lubrizol . com
The Lubrizol Corporation, A Berkshire Hathaway Company
