VESERIS
Contingency Plan
Section 6 -
Emergency Procedures
Effective Date
9/20/2021
Supersedes
New
Page
6-18
facility. If necessary, the Emergency Coordinator may consider contracting
with a structural engineer if there are questions about the structural integrity of
any buildings, storage tanks, or any other structures which may appear to be
unsafe.
Details for flood and earthquake response for hazardous waste storage
facilities can be found in the Part B or Interim Status document.
With Veseris' strategic positioning over 60 facilities nationwide, should a
facility sustain sufficient damage to prevent normal operations, product
shipments could be handled by another Veseris location without disruption of
service to our customers.
VIII. BOMB THREAT
In the event a bomb threat is called in to the facility, the most important thing to
do is to keep the caller on the telephone so the call can be traced. Remain calm
and try to obtain as much of the information listed on Exhibit 3 as possible. All
reception and/or switchboard personnel will have a copy of Exhibit 3.
These questions sometimes yield valuable information and will detain the
caller so a trace may be attempted. To trace a call, alert as quickly as possible
another employee to call the telephone company on another line while the
caller is detained on the first line. Speed is important because it may take
several minutes to trace a call. Call the operator and explain the situation. At
the same time, have another employee call the Emergency Coordinator. The
Emergency Coordinator should call the police to advise them of the threat and
obtain their assistance.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
DON'T TOUCH, HANDLE, OR MOVE ANY SUSPICIOUS OBJECT!!
Order an evacuation of the facility. The Emergency Coordinator should
ensure that reference tools such as the Contingency Plan, Corporate
Directory and visitor logs are removed for off-site use.
Immediately turn off all two-way radios and cease using until the
police have determined the area to be secure and safe.
