HANDLING A CALL FROM CHEMTREC
CHEMTREC - Veseris utilizes the CHEMTREC phone number for our 24/7
emergency phone number on all bills of lading; not to be utilized for waste
shipments.
Administrative Issues
Phone numbers for Emergency Coordinators and Alternates are filed and
maintained with CHEMTREC. These files are maintained by Austin Operations;
updates are sent out to both CHEMTREC on a quarterly basis. Branch Operations
Managers/Supervisors should report changes as soon as known to Austin
Operations.
CHEMTREC personnel have been instructed to contact the Emergency
Coordinator located closest to where the incident is occurring. However, in the
event the closest Emergency Coordinator is unavailable, CHEMTREC personnel
will contact the next logical (closest) Emergency Coordinator(s).
Veseris is registered with CHEMTREC, enabling Veseris to use CHEMTREC's
phone number (1-800-424-9300) as the 24-hour emergency response number
on bills of lading and manifests.
Protocol
Incident Involves Emergency Coordinator's Customer/Carrier/ Shipment
When CHEMTREC personnel contact a Veseris Emergency Coordinator or
alternate, that individual will:
Obtain known information about the event from the CHEMTREC
personnel.
Assume responsibility for action from CHEMTREC.
Establish telecommunications with the "caller" to CHEMTREC as soon
as possible.
