Socket <br />adaptor <br />Open <br />Poppet I Closed <br />Poppet <br />TEST INSTRUCTIONS <br />POPPET & FLOAT MOVEMENT <br />FOR TESTABLE MODELS ONLY <br />TOOLS NEEDED IORTESTlNG. <br />1/4" square drlve sidensicin or 3/131* square drive et- <br />tension with 311V to 1/44 socket adapter. <br />Torque wrench / 1/4` or Mr square drive ratchet <br />wrench. <br />Pipe dope. <br />Flashlight (optional). <br />rtST STEP 1: <br />Remove slY11 container cover and fill cap from filf adapt- <br />er and took down into the tube and make sure no debris <br />or foreign objerts are present. /f debris or foreign ob- <br />lect5 afe present take appropriate steps before proceed- <br />ing. Look down Into the tube and ensure poppet i5 <br />completety protected by the deflection shield. See Test <br />Figure 1. If poppet is exposed and tank is not full the <br />overfill valve should be replaced. A flaihlight may help <br />when inspec (jog the tube. <br />TlFST STEP 21: <br />Unthread the socket adaptor assem Mr from the inlet <br />rtibe zising 114- square drive extension arid wremiri. <br />The extension will attach to the socket adaptor. Secure <br />all tools to ensure they don't WI into the tank or valve. <br />With the extereslon still attached pull on the socket <br />adaptor and cable assembly and ensure float and pup- <br />Pet move / function property. it should only regutre 3" <br />10 4 of movement and less than 5 Ibs of force in ofdet <br />to actuate the float and poppet When looking down <br />into the upper tube ensure poppet Is visible and moves <br />into the flow path {see Test igure 1 & 2) when socket <br />adaptor is puted and resets propeily when Locket &dap- <br />ttfit is released. If poppet Join not dCtUalte free; y take <br />appropriate steps to correct. <br />TEST STEP 3: <br />Apply pipe dope to the socket adaptor threads. Pipe <br />dope should be a non-hard ehin9 gasoline resistant pipe <br />thrPad seat compound. Make sure popixt and float <br />have reset properly and are not vislbW. then install sock- <br />et adaptor iinc1 torque to 33 ft-Ibs (42 In-lbs) minimum <br />105.0 ft-1bs (60 In-lbs) maximum. After installing socket <br />adaptor, to ensure vapor tightness, OPW recommends <br />conducting pressure testing per CARS TP201.1D. Some <br />areas may let-Wire pi MM. te-Sling Of overhtt vaive per <br />(MB TP2)1.113 to ensure valve Is vapor tight. If the <br />drop tube tails pressure testing it may be necessary to <br />check the seal at the poppet adaptor threads.
