Executive Summary
Level of
Potential Impacts Significance Mitigation Measures
00 Post-construction site stabilization.
Prior to initial construction mobilization, preconstruction surveys shall be
performed and sediment and erosion controls shall be installed in accordance
with the approved SWPPP.
IMPACT 4.7-3:Would the Project be located on a geologic unit or soil Less than No mitigation required.
that is unstable, or that would become unstable as a result of the Significant Impact
project, and potentially result in on-or off-site landslide, lateral
spreading, subsidence, liquefaction or collapse?
IMPACT 4.7-4:Would the project be located on expansive soil, as Less than No mitigation required.
defined in Table 18-1-B of the Uniform Building Code(1994), creating Significant Impact
substantial direct or indirect risks to life or property?
IMPACT 4.7-5: Have soils incapable of adequately supporting the use Less than No mitigation required.
of septic tanks or alternative wastewater disposal systems where Significant Impact
sewers are not available for the disposal of wastewater?
IMPACT 4.7-6: Would the project directly or indirectly destroy a Less than GEO-2: Paleontological Worker Education and Awareness Program (WEAP)
unique paleontological resource or site or unique geologic feature? Significant Impact Before starting construction activities, on-site personnel should be trained in basic
with Mitigation recognition of fossils and appropriate procedures to notify management in order
Incorporated to engage a qualified paleontological specialist in the event that fossils are
discovered during construction activities (an unanticipated find).
GEO-3: Unanticipated Find Contingency
A qualified paleontological specialist(paleo specialist), meeting the Secretary of
the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for the Society of Vertebrate
Paleontology, shall be retained by the Project Owner on an on-call status. The
paleo specialist must be approved by both San Joaquin County and Alameda
County prior to any on-site activity. The paleo specialist will be brought on-site to
evaluate the significance of any unanticipated discovery of paleontological
resources (an unanticipated find)and determine if additional study is warranted. If
the significance of the find under CEQA or California Public Resources Code,
Section 21082, does not warrant such study, the qualified paleontologist may
decide to record the find and allow work to continue. If the discovery proves
significant under CEQA, preparation of a paleontological treatment, testing, or
data recovery plan (Paleo Plan)may be required at the discretion of the
paleontological specialist.Any Paleo Plan that is prepared will be submitted for
approval,to the appropriate agency within San Joaquin County or Alameda
County, depending upon the location of the find.
Griffith Energy Storage Project ES-25 Tetra Tech/SCH2022120675
Draft Environmental Impact Report August 2023
