Water Supply Assessment Griffith Energy Storage Project <br /> 1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> The Project is a proposed energy storage facility housing lithium-ion batteries totaling 400-megawatts of <br /> energy on a 106-acre property of land in San Joaquin County. The Project property is approximately <br /> 0.9 miles southwest of Interstate 580 and approximately 5 miles southwest of the City of Tracy, directly <br /> east to the Pacific Gas and Electric's Tesla Substation. <br /> The energy storage facility would interconnect at the Tesla Substation immediately adjacent to the site in <br /> Alameda County via a 230-kilovolt interconnection generation tie (gen-tie) line. The Project would <br /> substantially increase energy storage capacity and address limitations of the electrical energy grid by <br /> increasing the efficacy of renewable energy. This Project and other energy storage systems are used to <br /> supply power during brief disturbances, reduce outages and associated impacts to the community, and <br /> substitute for certain large footprint transmission upgrades. <br /> Construction of the Project is anticipated to last approximately 12-months, plus 3 months for <br /> commissioning, with an estimated 10,000,000 gallons of non-potable water(approximately 30.7 acre-feet) <br /> needed for dust suppression, soil compaction, and other construction related purposes. <br /> During the Project operation and maintenance phase, the expected maintenance would generate little <br /> worker traffic and no heavy equipment would be utilized during normal operation. No permanent sanitary <br /> facilities would be required during operations. Fire protection service is expected to be provided by the <br /> Tracy Rural Fire District. The project site is approximately 3 miles west of the Tracy Rural Fire District Fire <br /> Station 94. <br /> OTETRA TECH 4 February 2023 <br />
