1. As part of the SVMF Reliability Safety Coach Program, medical waste inspections <br /> are conducted bi-annually and hazardous waste inspections are conducted weekly. <br /> 2. Regulatory inspections will be conducted according to local CUPA or CDPH <br /> requirements. <br /> L. Emergency Plans: <br /> 1. The Program Administrator has the authority to implement this Emergency Plan in <br /> the event of improper disposal of hazardous or medical waste. <br /> 2. In the event of a disaster which affects the integrity of the medical/biohazardous <br /> waste storage area, and alternative storage area will be selected until the integrity of <br /> the primary storage area and operations are restored. <br /> 3. In the event the primary registered waste transporter can no longer provide waste <br /> pick-up and hauling services, SVMF will use an alternate transporter. The emergency <br /> transporter is: <br /> a. Stericycle, Inc. <br /> 7876 R A Bridgeford Road, Stockton, CA 95206 <br /> (209) 468-3066 <br /> b. Stericycle <br /> 11875 White Rock Road <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95742 <br /> (916) 985-8179 <br /> 4. The CUPA or CDPH will be contacted for notification and approval of contingency <br /> plans and for less well-defined emergency situations. <br /> M. Education and Training: <br /> 1. Training guidelines for management of medical waste shall be conducted during <br /> New Employee Orientation and includes the following: <br /> a. Work practices and responsibility for personal safety; <br /> b. Where PPE is located; <br /> c. Location of the written Medical Waste Management Plan (if applicable); <br /> d. Emergency procedures for personnel and equipment,- <br /> e. <br /> quipment;e. Labeling systems for storage areas; <br /> f. Storage, handling,transportation and disposal of waste products; <br /> g. Employees are trained on hazardous material and waste streams. <br /> 2. California Department of Transportation (DOT) Education Requirements: <br /> a. Every employee who handles or packages medical waste or signs shipping <br /> papers (manifests) must complete an online DOT training module in <br /> eLearning. This training is required to be renewed every three years, or <br /> when a change to the program occurs. <br /> 3.
