HSC 118275 - Medical, biohazardous, sharps, trace chemo, pathology, or pharmaceutical waste shall be segregated <br /> and contained pursuant to this section. The container shall be properly labeled. <br /> OBSERVATION: <br /> 1.Allergy Exam Room #27-"Incineration Only" label is lacking on consolidated container. Corrected onsite. <br /> Hematology/Oncology- Label is lacking on chemotherapy container. Corrected onsite. <br /> Lab- Label is lacking on biohazard container. Corrected onsite. <br /> Internal Medicine Room 2059 -Label is not completely affixed to the consolidated container. Corrected onsite. <br /> Biohazard container in the janitor closet lacks a label on the lid of the container. Corrected onsite. <br /> 2.lnfusion Room -Gauze pad observed in the consolidated waste container. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: <br /> 1.Items have been corrected onsite. Ensure containers are labeled in compliance with HSC 118275. <br /> 2.Discontinue this practice. Consolidated containers should not contain mixed waste. <br /> Train staff on the proper segregation of medical waste. Provide the EHD with staff training record within 2 weeks. <br /> 25. HSC 118280 - Biohazard bags shall be containerized and stored pursuant to this section <br /> OBSERVATION <br /> 1.Observed tracking and treatment records for sharps pick up for 11/5/2024 and 11/19/2024. Tracking and treatment record is <br /> lacking for 11/12/2024. <br /> Observed tracking and treatment record for biohazardous pick up for 1/21/2025 and then on 1/30/2025. Tracking and treatment <br /> record is lacking for 1/28/2025. <br /> 2.Designated Accumulation Area -Biohazard container has miscellaneous items at the bottom of the container. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: <br /> 1.Provide tracking and treatment records for 11/12/2024 and 1/28/2025. <br /> Provide the record(s)or explain how the site will be sure to store biohazardous waste for no more than seven days per <br /> HS118280(e)(1)(A). <br /> 2.Containerize biohazard waste. Ensure that contents of biohazard bags are containerized as described in HSC 118280. <br /> Train staff on the proper storage and containment of medical waste. Provide the EHD with staff training record within 2 weeks. <br /> 28. HSC 118305 - Reuseable drums or containers used for medical waste shall not be used for other storage. <br /> OBSERVATION: <br /> Storage Room-Biohazard container is being used for the storage of cleaning supplies and a vacuum hose. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: <br /> Discontinue this practice. Do not use biohazard containers for the storage of cleaning supplies except if being used as described <br /> HSC 118305 A person shall not use reusable pails, drums, dumpsters, or bins used for medical waste for the containment of solid <br /> or for other purposes, except after being decontaminated by the procedures specified in Section 118295 and removal of all medical <br /> waste labels. <br /> Train staff on the proper segregation of and containment of medical waste.
