Best Practice - Foodservice Owner: Danny Austin, RVP <br /> AA McLANE. <br /> California Hazardous Waste Compliance Date: May_28_,2015 <br /> Purpose <br /> The purpose of this Best Practice is to support compliance with California Hazardous Waste regulatory <br /> requirements for any item identified as hazardous waste in California. <br /> Definitions <br /> Califon is Hazardous Waste: Any unusable customer item identified on the CHWL list and chemical <br /> wastes generated from Warehouse or Transportation Shop operations <br /> CH^„WL (or California Hazardous Waste List): The list of all customer items classified under State <br /> regulations as hazardous waste when disposed of. <br /> un sah e; Any item which, due to physical damage, code-dating or any other reason, is neither fit for <br /> sale or distribution to customers nor reasonably capable of being used in-house for cleaning, <br /> consumption or otherwise. <br /> Teammate Safety <br /> The safety of our Teammates shall be first and foremost while working with products and wastes that <br /> Gould cause injury or Illness. Only teammates that are fully trained and familiar with the CA <br /> Hazardous Waste Compliance Process should be allowed to work with these items. Resources <br /> available to ensure teammate safety include: <br /> • Safety Data Sheets (SDS) which are accessible thru the Right-to-Know portal on My <br /> McLane, <br /> • Appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) shall be made available to all <br /> teammates working with chemicals and CA Hazardous Wastes. <br /> • Safety and PPE signage shall be posted throughout the Non-Conforming and Waste <br /> Storage areas. <br /> • Eye wash stations and fire extinguishers shall be provided. <br /> • Spill Kits shall be available and appropriate for the items processed. <br /> • Teammates should be encouraged to ask questions if they are unsure of how to <br /> handle any product, chemical or spill clean-up, <br /> Teammate Training <br /> All Teammates involved in the handling and management of CA HA2 products are required to <br /> complete training during their new-hire orientation and annually thereafter. Training content shall <br /> include information on CA Hazardous Waste rules, this Best Practice and any other site-specific <br /> details regarding management of wastes. All training shall be documented. <br /> Procedures; Genera! <br /> • California Hazardous Waste must be properly handled in-house and during transport to comply <br /> with all statutory, regulatory and McLane internal requirements, <br /> • California Hazardous Waste must not be stored or transported in a manner that will <br /> contaminate other product. <br /> • Disposal of California Hazardous Waste must be done in compliance with California state laws <br /> and regulations so as not to contaminate the landfill, water system, or environment. <br /> McLane Co.confidential:For Internal use Only Page 1 <br />
