<br /> <br /> Forward Landfill WMU FU-23 02300 1 EARTHWORK <br /> SECTION 02300 EARTHWORK PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 WORK INCLUDED A. This section covers the Work necessary to construct the earthwork for Waste Management Unit (WMU) FU-23 at the Forward Landfill. Specifically, it includes, but is not limited to, excavation, general earthfill, and grading; connection to adjacent waste management units, construction of a compacted clay liner, construction of a granular drainage layer, construction of a protective operations layer, construction of LCRS trenches, excavation and backfilling of anchor trenches, construction of liner termination and anchor berms, and construction of a lysimeter. Miscellaneous minor earthwork may also be required, as directed by the OWNER. 1.2 DEFINITIONS A. Acceptance Testing: Tests performed by the QA/QC CONSULTANT to verify the in-place properties of constructed components. B. Completed Course: The completed course is defined as a course or layer that is ready for the next layer or the next phase of construction. C. Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Manual: A program of activities that will provide adequate confidence that materials and workmanship meet the requirements of the Contract and fulfill the project objectives. CQA includes quality acceptance tests and procedures that are outlined in the CQA Manual. The CQA Manual is an attachment to these Contract Documents. D. DESIGN ENGINEER: LEWIS ENGINEERING E. EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR: The entity that will perform all earthwork as required by these Specifications. F. Imported Material: Material obtained by the CONTRACTOR or OWNER from offsite sources. G. OWNER: Forward, Inc. H. QA/QC CONSULTANT: Consulting engineering firm directing, coordinating, or providing subsurface soil investigations, soil testing laboratory, geosynthetics testing laboratory, monitoring of construction, and construction surveillance. The QA/QC CONSULTANT is technically accountable to Forward, Inc. and responsible for certification of construction according to the specifications outlined herein. The QA/QC CONSULTANT consists of the CQA Officer and CQA Inspection Personnel. The CQA Officer has final authority on decisions to be made by the CQA Inspection Personnel. I.
