General: The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall ensure that all submittals are complete and approved in accordance with the requirements and procedures in this Section and Section 01330. All submittals must include the reference numbers shown in this Section. B. Submittals Required After Contract Award and Prior to Construction. 1. Material Certification (EW1A): Certification, test results, source, and samples for all EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR supplied imported material as required by Article 1.4, IMPORTED MATERIAL ACCEPTANCE, of this Specification Section. 2. Equipment List (EW1B): Clay Liner Material processing, compaction, and moisture control equipment, to include the following, as appropriate, for each equipment type: a. Catalog and manufacturer data sheets. b. Equipment operating data from similar projects. c. The Clay Liner Material processing, compaction, and moisture control equipment must be approved by the DESIGN ENGINEER prior to use on the project. However, approval of the equipment by the DESIGN ENGINEER does not release the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR from full compliance with the provisions of this Section. 1.4 IMPORTED MATERIAL ACCEPTANCE A. All imported materials specified in this specification section are subject to the following requirements: 1. All tests necessary for the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR to locate an acceptable source of imported material shall be made by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR. Certification that the material conforms to the Specification requirements along with copies of the control test results from a qualified commercial testing laboratory shall be submitted to the QA/QC CONSULTANT for approval at least 10 days before the material is required for use. All material samples shall be furnished by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR at his sole expense. Samples shall be representative and be clearly marked to show the source of the material and the intended use on the project. Sampling of the material source shall be done by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR in accordance with ASTM D75. Notify the QA/QC CONSULTANT at least 24 hours prior to sampling. The QA/QC CONSULTANT may observe the sampling procedures. Tentative acceptance of the material source shall be based on an inspection of the source by the QA/QC CONSULTANT and/or the certified test results submitted by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR to the QA/QC CONSULTANT. No imported materials shall be delivered to the site until the proposed source and material control tests have been tentatively accepted in writing by the QA/QC CONSULTANT. Final acceptance will be based on all tests made on samples of material taken from the completed and compacted course. All acceptance testing for final acceptance shall be performed by the QA/QC CONSULTANT.
