Page 2
March 27.2017
aff Brusca Project No. 137-002 48-Acre Lathrop Propem
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
General
The planned scope of work includes the advancement of six exploratory borings for the collection of
sub-surface soil samples and groundwater samples at selected locations for laboratory analysis. The
purpose of the sampling and testing is to screen site soils and groundwater as a part of environmental
due diligence related to a potential real estate transaction involving the property. All work would be
overseen by a Professional Geologist, and sampling would be performed in accord with standard
environmental protocol. A Safety Plan is attached. The planned work elements are summarized
below.
Utility Clearance and Permitting
Prior to the drilling activities, the proposed boring locations will be marked and we will contact
Underground Service Alert to clear the borings of underground utilities.
As required,a boring permit application will be processed with the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department. The application process includes preparation and submittal of this Workplan, a
Safety Plan, permit application forms, Licensed Contractors Declaration forms, and a Master File
Record form.
Exploratory Drilling and Sub-Surface Soil Sampling
We plan the advancement of five borings for subsurface soil and groundwater sampling at spatially
distributed locations on the property (see attached Site Map). Four of the borings will be performed
near the property corners and one will be performed within the central portion of the site. The borings
will be performed with a truck-mounted direct push (Geoprobe) rig and will extend to depths on the
order of 15 feet. Subsurface soil and groundwater samples will be collected from the borings for
laboratory analysis. Following soil and groundwater sampling activities, all borings will be backfilled
with neat-cement grout in accord with County requirements.
Collected soil and groundwater samples will be submitted to a State-certified laboratory for analytical
testing. Soil samples will be analyzed for one or more of the following: gasoline, diesel, and motor
oil-range petroleum hydrocarbons by EPA Method 801513; volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by
EPA Method 8260B; chlorinated pesticides by EPA Method 8081A; polychlorinated biphenyls
(PCBs) by EPA Method 8082; and, CAM 17 metals by EPA Method 6010/200.7. The groundwater
samples would be analyzed for one or more of the following: gasoline, diesel, and motor oil-range
petroleum hydrocarbons by EPA Method 801513; VOCs by EPA Method 826013; chlorinated
pesticides by EPA Method 8081A; CAM 17 metals by EPA Method 6010/200.7; nitrates; total
dissolved solids (TDS), Sulfolane, 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane
(DBCP).
