There was separation between the manually screened greenwaste pile and the unscreened
greenwaste received.
2. The fly population was light. Fly traps were put on site.
3. All records were available for review.
4. The analysis results for the metal concentration, fecal coliform density, and Salmonella
density of the compost product was available for review. The compost product met the
state standards.
5. The water truck was observed on site.
6. The temperature of the greenwaste and overs was 119 F and 107 F respectively. The
temperature range of the ground material and windrows was 115 F to 138 F and 145 F to
151 F. The temperature range of the pre-screened product and the screened product was
112 F to 115 F and 128 F to 132 F respectively.
7. Inspector drove south of the facility along Austin Road and could slightly smell odors
resulting from the composting facility. This was brought to the attention of the operator.
8. The facility is receiving waste water from a cannery. The water is considered a non-
hazardous liquid. The liquid is used as makeup water at the compost site. The windrows
that receive the water are placed near the back of the facility. The windrows receive
additional turnings to fully disperse the liquid and to help ensure aerobic conditions in
the windrows.
