<br />LL Hazardous Waste Ex Program <br />February 2020 1 San Joaquin County <br /> PWD-Solid Waste <br /> <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The hazardous waste exclusion program described herein was developed for the Lovelace <br />Transfer Station, in San Joaquin County, California. This facility operates under Solid Waste <br />Facilities Permit #39-AA-0008, which is issued by the California Department of Resources, <br />Recycling and Recovery, and is administered by the San Joaquin County Health Department as <br />Local Enforcement Agency. The site is prohibited from accepting hazardous waste or liquids <br />under this Permit. <br /> <br />This program is designed to prevent disposal of significant amounts of prohibited waste at the <br />site and to provide for proper removal and disposal of such waste if detected. It includes a load <br />checking program, additional exclusion procedures, and procedures for handling Identified <br />Hazardous Waste. <br /> LOAD CHECKING PROGRAM <br /> <br />A. General <br /> <br />The key element of the hazardous waste exclusion program is the ongoing load checking <br />program. The load checking program is designed to find prohibited waste before it is received <br />at the facility, and have the customer remove such waste from the site for proper disposal at a <br />properly licensed facility. The program also describes actions in case prohibited wastes are <br />discovered in the waste stream. <br /> <br />Wastes which are not accepted at the Lovelace Transfer Station include: <br /> <br /> Chemicals or chemical sludge which are toxic, corrosive, an irritant, or a strong sensitizer <br /> Drugs <br /> Infectious wastes <br /> Radioactive wastes <br /> Flammables or explosives <br /> Free liquids or liquid residues in containers larger than five gallons <br /> Fuel wastes <br /> Pesticides or insecticides (properly neutralized and rinsed containers are allowed) <br /> Bag house or air scrubber wastes
