<br />LL Hazardous Waste Ex Program <br />February 2020 8 San Joaquin County <br /> PWD-Solid Waste <br />Exhibit 6 <br />Sample Notice to Customers <br /> <br /> <br />NOTICE OF CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY <br />FOR PROHIBITED MATERIALS <br />LOVELACE TRANSFER STATION <br /> <br />Requirements of State Laws prohibit the disposal of hazardous wastes, and liquids, and other <br />prohibited materials at the Lovelace Transfer Station. To monitor compliance with these <br />requirements, a Load Checking Program has been implemented to prevent depositing such <br />materials at the Lovelace facility. : <br /> <br /> Prohibited materials include: <br /> <br /> Chemicals or chemical sludge which is toxic, corrosive, an irritant, or a strong <br />sensitizer <br /> Drugs <br /> Infectious wastes <br /> Radioactive wastes <br /> Flammables or explosives <br /> Free liquids, including liquid residues in containers or cans which are greater than <br />one gallon in volume <br /> Contaminated oil or fuel wastes <br /> Pesticides or insecticides (properly neutralized and rinsed containers are allowed) <br /> Bag house or air scrubber wastes <br /> Asbestos wastes <br /> Tank cleaning sludge or sediments <br /> Contaminated soil or sand <br /> <br />Customers delivering prohibited materials to the Lovelace Transfer Station are responsible for <br />the handling and disposal of those materials. <br /> <br /> If prohibited materials are delivered to the Lovelace Transfer Station and detected under <br />the Load Checking Program, the responsible customer will be requested to remove such <br />materials from the site for disposal at a properly designated disposal site. If the <br />prohibited material can be accepted at another County facility such as the North County <br />Recycling Center or the Household Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility, the <br />customer will be informed of these options. Otherwise the customer will be directed to <br />contact the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department by calling (209) 468- <br />3420 regarding proper disposal of the prohibited materials. <br /> <br /> If prohibited materials are discovered at the site but the responsible delivering party does <br />not safely remove the materials for disposal, the County will contract with a hazardous <br />waste hauler to remove the materials from the Lovelace Transfer Station for legal <br />disposal. The responsible party will be billed for associated costs. <br /> <br />Your cooperation with this Hazardous Waste Exclusion Program is appreciated.
