Training sessions occur monthly with bi- <br />weekly “tailgate” meetings. A record of personnel training is maintained at the LTS main <br />administration office for reference during facility inspections. <br /> <br />1.9.2 Communications Equipment <br />Facility managers, supervisors and equipment operators are equipped with pagers and portable <br />radios. Managers have telephones in their offices for internal and external communications. <br />Scale and gate house operators also have access to portable radios and telephones which will <br />permit communication to the Supervisor and the main office. <br /> <br />1.9.3 Safety Program <br />MRF staff are equipped with and are required to use proper safety equipment. Minimal required <br />safety gear provided includes: boots with puncture resistant soles, leather uppers and leather <br />soles, safety vest, gloves, safety glasses and hard hats. In addition, ear plugs and dust masks <br />are available and required when performing any task that could produce flying particles or <br />excessive noise levels. Gloves are provided and required when handling materials with sharp or <br />jagged edges which may result in lacerations. In addition, heavy equipment operators use radios <br />to communicate constantly with ground crew and to minimize any possible accidents. County <br />vehicles housed onsite are equipped with flashing lights and audible beeping siren when backing. <br /> <br />First aid kits are provided and are located in the MRF, maintenance and administrative offices <br />and eye-wash/shower units and drinking water units are located throughout the working areas. <br />Both men’s and women’s lavatories with handicapped accommodations and showers are <br />available in the office area of the Office and Maintenance Building. A work Site Emergency Plan <br />is maintained at the LTS main administrative offices (Appendix C). <br /> <br />1.10 RECORD KEEPING <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17414, all records are maintained at the LTS main <br />administration for a period of at least three years. In addition, the operator will notify the LEA by <br />telephone within 24 hours of all incidents requiring the implementation of emergency procedures. <br />
