Training <br />Site safety and health training is designed to provide workers with the health and safety <br />training necessary to work safely on the site in compliance with 29 CFR 1926.65(b)(4)(ii)(B). <br />Training requirements for the site are based on the site history, job hazard analysis, and <br />relevant OSHA requirements. Personnel who have not been trained to a level required by the <br />job function and responsibility are not permitted to participate in or supervise field activities. <br />5.1 Initial Training <br />Initial training requirements for site workers are based on the worker's potential for <br />exposure and compliance with the requirements. <br />5.2 Required Supervised Field Experience <br />In accordance with 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(3)(i), (ii) and (iii), site workers on this site shall have <br />received the appropriate number of days of supervised field experience under the direct <br />supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor, or must receive the appropriate number of <br />days of supervised field experience on this site. <br />5.3 Site-Specific Training for Site Workers <br />Site workers shall be trained on the following site-specific elements: <br />• Names of personnel and alternates responsible for site safety and health. <br />• Health and safety hazards present at the site. <br />• Use of site specific PPE as detailed in Section 6 of this HASP. <br />• Standard work practices that minimize risks from the hazards detailed in Section <br />3.1 Site Characterization of this HASP. <br />• The site control plan detailed in Section 4 of this HASP. <br />• Spill containment procedures are detailed in Section 8 of this HASP. <br />• Emergency response plan and procedures detailed in Section 10 of this HASP. <br />• Location and use of portable fire extinguishers, in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.120 <br />Subpart F (Fire protection and prevention). <br />• Working safely around heavy equipment and vehicular traffic. <br />• Trenching and excavations, in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.651. <br />5.4 Site Briefings for Visitors and Workers <br />Site specific briefing(s) shall be provided to visitors who wish to enter this site beyond the <br />designated entry point. For visitors, a site-specific briefing shall include information about <br />site hazards, the site layout, and other important and relevant health and safety <br />requirements, as appropriate.
