Site Health and Safety Plan Page 26 <br />• Hardhat. <br />• Face shield. <br />• Escape mask. <br />6.1.1.4 Level D PPE <br />Level D PPE is used when the atmosphere contains no known hazard, and work functions <br />preclude splashes, immersion, or the potential for unexpected inhalation of or contact with <br />hazardous levels of any chemicals. Level D is a basic work uniform affording minimal <br />protection. <br />The Level D PPE ensemble includes: <br />• Coveralls <br />• Gloves <br />• Boots <br />• Safety glasses or chemical splash goggles <br />• Hardhat <br />• High visibility reflective vest <br />• Face shield, as needed <br />6.2 Site-Specific PPE <br />Based on available information, and observations site conditions and analytical reports, site- <br />specific PPE shall be divided into two distinct phases of site work. <br />6.2.1 General Site Work <br />Site worker engaged in normal site operations shall be equipped with Modified Level D PPE. <br />PPE may be subject to change during the course of fieldwork particularly if unexpected <br />conditions (i.e., odors, staining, etc.) are encountered. If unexpected conditions are <br />encountered, site personnel are instructed to temporarily suspend operations and contact <br />the PM and SSHO to initiate additional investigations. <br />6.3 Training in the Use of PPE <br />Site workers shall receive general training regarding the proper selection, donning and <br />doffing, use, and inspection of PPE during the initial training and subsequent refresher <br />training. Site-specific PPE requirements, including tasks specific PPE, ensemble <br />components, and inspection and maintenance procedures, as applicable, shall be <br />communicated to Site workers. <br />6.4 Minimum Standards for PPE <br />If preliminary Site evaluations did not produce sufficient information to identify the hazards <br />or suspected hazards of the Site, and ensemble providing equivalent to Level D PPE shall be <br />provided as minimum protection.
