Site Health and Safety Plan Page 27 <br />6.5 Hearing Conservation <br />Site workers shall use hearing protection to protect against noise exposures equal to or <br />exceeding an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) of 85 dBA. In areas where noise exposure <br />meets or exceeds this level, noise will be listed as a physical hazard in the Job Hazard <br />Analysis Worksheet and hearing protection PPE for the tasks or operations in these areas <br />shall be included as one of the control measures. <br />6.6 PPE Maintenance and Storage <br />PPE shall be maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. <br />PPE maintenance and storage programs are intended to ensure that PPE continues to <br />provide the anticipated at expected level of protection. <br />6.7 Use of PPE at the Site <br />Site workers using PPE shall receive the proper training and fit testing, as applicable. PPE <br />shall be inspected prior to, during use (as needed), and after each use. Site workers are <br />expected to comply with PPE usage, maintenance, and storage procedures. Moreover, site <br />workers must communicate to the SSHO whenever PPE is observed to be ineffective, or <br />exhibiting signs of excess wear, or nearing the end of its service life. Such PPE shall be <br />replaced immediately. <br />6.8 Respiratory Protection <br />The type of respiratory protection used on any particular site is dependent upon the level of <br />protection required, the type and concentration of contaminants, the duration of the work <br />task(s), and the individual site worker. <br />
