Additionally, we were able to confirm that the tanks were installed in 1996, which is after leaded
gasoline was banned. We did not observe any staining, odor, or signs of impact during our
investigation, and the PID data supports this. We can certainly include these findings in our
completion report.
Based on this information, we suggest analyzing for total lead first. If the data indicates that further
testing for organic lead or speciation is needed (for example exceeding commercial screening level),
then we can proceed with that as well. I would be glad to discuss this further with you if needed.
Thank you,
E0 Scott Johns,PE,QSD
Associate
—aped Exceffence 925-570-5855
From: Patti Sandrock<pail.sandrocl@torrentlaboratory.com>
Sent:Thursday,October 9,2025 2:57 PM
To:Scott Johns<sjohns@engeo.com>
Cc:Torrent Laboratory, Inc. (:)M@torrentlaboratory.com)<qM@torrentlaboratory.com>
Subject: UST Sampling
Security WARNING:This is an
external email.Do not click links or
open attachments unless you Hi Scott,
recognize the sender and know the
content is safe. Yes, Total Lead analysis by either ICP or ICP-MS captures all of the
environmentally available lead present in the sample when the sample is
processed by 3050B acid digestion for soils or 3010A for waters. The digestion completely dissolves
the samples and the lead present is broken down in its elemental form. For silicate bound structures
an additional digestion procedure is necessary for total digestion (method 3052) but, unless
crystalline silicate bound, not for Lead. The only consistent occurrence of this in the U.S.A.
appears to be in Missouri so, unless you have other reasons to believe the lead may be in this
crystalline structure, EPA 3050B digestion with 6010 or 6020 analysis is sufficient.
Organic Lead is a form of speciation used for particular sites where the Lead is significantly high. I
would do as you suggest- analyze for total lead and, based on that concentration, run organic lead
only if there appears to be a necessity for speciation.
Thanks,
Patti
I,
Torrent Patti L Sandrock QA Officer
LABORATORY, INC .
0: (408) 263-5258 ext: 208 1 M: (408) 931-1392
K; 483 Sinclair Frontage Rd.
