Geospte& <br /> consultants <br /> As an example, a soil sample collected on October 1, 2024, from location 817B-08 at a depth of <br /> 2 feet bgs will have an ID of 817B-08-SS-2-20241001. Monitoring well samples well be <br /> formatted as only"Well ID-Date". <br /> Each sample will have an adhesive plastic or waterproof paper label affixed to the container. <br /> Samples will be labeled at the time of collection, and the following information will be recorded <br /> on the container label: <br /> • Project name. <br /> • Sample identification. <br /> • Date and time of sample collection. <br /> • Preservative type (if applicable). <br /> Soil and groundwater samples will be stored in an ice-cooled chest and maintained at <br /> approximately 0 to 6 degrees Celsius (°C). Soil vapor samples will be stored at room <br /> temperature. Samples will be transported under standard chain-of-custody procedures (described <br /> below) to a California-certified laboratory. <br /> 4.2.6.2 Chain-of-Custody Procedures <br /> Standard chain-of-custody (COC)procedures will be followed for the samples throughout the <br /> collection, handling, and analysis process. Samples are considered to be in one's custody if <br /> within the custodian's possession or view, in a secured location with restricted access, or in a <br /> container that is secured with an official seal such that the sample cannot be accessed without <br /> breaking the seal. <br /> The principal document used to track possession and transfer of samples will be the COC form. <br /> Each sample will be entered on a COC form the day it is collected. The data entries will be made <br /> using an indelible-ink pen. Corrections will be made by drawing a single line through the error, <br /> writing in the correct information, then dating and initialing the change. <br /> A COC form will accompany each cooler of samples to the analytical laboratory. Each person <br /> who has custody of the samples will sign the COC form and ensure that the samples are not left <br /> unattended unless properly secured. Copies of the COC forms will be retained in the project files <br /> and included in the final report. <br /> 4.2.6.3 Sample Analysis <br /> Table 1 outlines the soil, groundwater, and soil vapor samples to be collected and analytical <br /> testing to be performed. A total of 33 soil samples, 5 grab groundwater samples, and 11 soil <br /> vapor samples are planned to be collected. Samples will be submitted a California-certified <br /> analytical laboratory for the following analysis (Table 1 and 2). <br /> • Soil samples will be analyzed for VOCs (including methyl tert-butyl ether [MTBE]) <br /> and TPH-g using USEPA Method 8260B, and TPH-d using USEPA Method 8015B. <br /> Investigation Work Plan—UST 817B 11 December 2024 <br />
