3

Hydraulic Lift Decommissioning – A total of five inground hydraulic lift were located at the store and were decommissioned by others. David Boyd of World Oil observed the decommissioning on behalf of ECG/Pep Boys. Hydraulic fluid in the lifts was pumped from the lift systems and containerized in ECG provided drums. Pistons (plungers) were removed from the cylinder jacks and any remaining oil was removed from the pistons and cylinders. All cylinder openings, equalizer bar openings and truck lift chases were filled with gravel/fill and concrete was placed to match existing grade. The drums containing hydraulic fluid were removed from the site by the WOE and transported for recycling.
Service Area and Parking Lot – Petroleum staining was noted on the floor of the shop area, typical of an automobile repair facility. The interior of the service bay floors, the concrete aprons adjacent to the bay door openings and selected exterior areas were pressure washed by Fleetwash. All wash water was collected by Fleetwash and disposed of off-site. Based on the information contained in this report, no further action is recommended at this time. Photos taken after the store closing are attached. Waste disposal/tank removal documents are also attached.
