Geosyntec O <br /> consultants <br /> 3.3 Scope of Soil Sample Collection <br /> Soil samples will be collected from depths of 0-0.5 ft bgs, 1-1.5 ft bgs, 3-3.5 ft bgs, and 5-5.5 <br /> ft bgs at locations S-1 through S-5 (Figure 2), consistent with the protocol described in the <br /> 2018Annual Groundwater Monitoring Report(Geosyntec,31 October2018). Consistent with <br /> the sampling methodology used in earlier soil sampling events by the Source Group <br /> Incorporated and Geosyntec, soil sampling will be conducted using a hand auger and slide <br /> hammer at the five locations indicated in Figure 2. The hand auger will be advanced into the <br /> soil until the appropriate sample depth is reached, at which point a slide hammer will be driven <br /> into undisturbed soil until a 6-inch stainless-steel sampling tube is completely filled. The <br /> sample tubes will then be covered with Teflon, capped at each end, labeled, immediately <br /> placed in a cooler with ice, and transported to Eurofins-Calscience Laboratory (Eurofins) <br /> under a chain-of-custody. <br /> After the five borings have been advanced to terminal depth and all required samples <br /> collected, each boring will be kept open with a six-foot length of/2-inch PVC pipe until the <br /> end of the day, so that a grout inspector from the SJCEHD can observe grouting of each <br /> boring. Borings will then be grouted to surface with neat cement using the tremie method or <br /> free fall while in the presence of the grout inspector. <br /> 3.4 Analytical Testing Method for Collected Soil Samples <br /> Eurofins will analyze the soil samples for ammonia as nitrogen (NH3-N) by EPA Method <br /> 350.1, nitrate as nitrogen (NO3-N) by EPA Method 353.2, and pH by EPA Method 9045C. <br /> Consistent with the soil sample protocol used in earlier soil sampling for nitrogen, including <br /> the 2020 Annual Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Report (Geosyntec, 31 October <br /> 2020), a QA/QC soil sample will be collected as a "blind" field duplicate at one sampling <br /> location. <br /> 3.5 Disposal of Investigation Derived Waste <br /> Soil cuttings generated during the course of sample collection will be managed as <br /> investigation derived waste (IDW) and will be transferred to new clean 55-gallon drums and <br /> stored in an area of the site designated by GSH. Thereafter, Geosyntec will subcontract and <br /> coordinate with American Integrated Services, Inc.
