Section 1 -Scope
This section covers the use offiberglass rei nforced plastic (FRP) pipe for
singlewall fuel handling and fuel hand lingventandvaporapplications
includinggasoline, unleaded gasoline, gasoline/alcohol mixtures,
bio -diesel, DEF and diesel up to 150OFand 250 psigcyclic pressure.
Section 2 -General Conditions
2.01 Coordination-Materialfurnished and work performed underthis
section shall be coordinated with the related work and equipment
specified under othersections, i.e.VaIves, Flexible Connectors,
Equipment,
2.02 Governing5tandards-Exceptasmodified orsupplemented
herein, all materials and construction methods shall complywith
and be tested in accordance with the followingstandards and test
methods:
Standard and Test Methods
UL9712004
Standard for Nonmetallic Underground Piping for Flammable
Liquids
ASTM D2310
Standard Classification for Machine -Made "Fiberglass" (Glass Fiber
Reinforced Thermosetting Resin) Pipe
Standard Test Method for obtaining Hydrostatic or Pressure Design
ASTM D2992
Basis for"Fiberglass" (Glass -Fiber -Reinforced -Thermosetting Resin)
Pipe and Fittings
2.03 Operating Conditions- In addition to the above minimum
design requirements,the system shall meetthefollowing
3
minimum operating conditions:
a. Operating Pressure
b. Operating Tern
perature
cI
Fluid Conveyed
dI
Test Pressure
2.04 QualityAssurance-Pipemanufacturer'squalityprogramshall
be in compliancewith ISO9001 and/orAPl Ql.
2.05 Delivery, Storage and Handling -Pipe and fittings shall
be
protected from damageduetoimpactandpointloading. Pipe
shall be properly supported to avoid damagedLie toflexurat
strain. The contractorshall not allow dirt, debris or other
extraneous materials to get into pipe and fittings. Allfactory
machined areas shall be protected from sunlight until installed.
2.06 Acceptable Manufacturers -Fiber Glass Systems, (501)
568-4010, or approved equal.
Section 3 -Materials and Construction
3.012"-4"Pipe-The pipe shall be manufactured bythe filament
winding process using an
aminecured epoxythermosetting
resin to impregnatestrands of continuousglassfilaments,which
are woundaroundamandrelata543/; windingangleunder
con trolled tension. Pipe shall be heatcured and the cure shall be
confirmed using Differential Scanning Calorimeter.
Pipeshall besuppliedwith aT.A.BTM(Threaded and Bonded)
endS,
Pipeshall have a minimum continuous cyclic pressure ratingof
125 prig at 150°F in accordance with ASTM D2992, Procedure A or
UL971 pressure rating.
All pipe shall be 100% hydrotested at the factory before shi pment
ata minimum pressureof265 psigand shall be UL971-2004
Listed and labeled.
" "
3.02 ASTM D2310 Classifications (at 73.4°F)
2-3RTRP-11AF
4" RTRP-11AH
(Mechanical propertiescell classificationsshown are minimums.)
3.03 Fittings-Allfittingsshall
be manufactured usingthesametype
of material as the pipe. Fittings maybe manufactured either by
compression molding, filamentwinding, resin transfer molding
orcontact molding methods. All fittings, adapter, and sump
penetrations shall be UL971-2004 Listed.
Fittings shall
be adhesive bonded matched tapered bell and
spigot. ,
.04 Connections-Connectionstoflex connectors orotherpiping
materials shall be made bythe use of NPT (National Pipe Thread)
threaded adapters orflanges bonded to the FRP piping system,
3.05 Sump Penetrations -Sump penetrations shall
be made by
means of a permanently bonded FRP coupling. The coupling
shall be capable of adjustingforthe slope of the pipingsystem
entering orexitingthesump wall.
3.06 Adhesives-Adhesivesshallbe manufacturer's standardforthe
pipingsystem specified.
Section 3 -Materials and Construction
3.012-4" Primaryand 3" -6"Secondary Pipe -The pipe shall be
manufactured bythe filamentwinding process using an amine
cured epoxythermosetting resin to impregnate strands of
continuous glass filaments, which arewound around a mandrel
at a 543/4" wind i ng angle under controlled tension. Thepipe
shall be heat cured and the cure shall be confirmed using a
Differential Scan ningCalorimeter,
Pipe shall be supplied with a T.A.Bl'
(Threaded and Bonded) or
plain ends.
Pipe shall have a minimum continuous cyclic pressure rating of
125 psig at 150°F in accordance with ASTM D2992, Procedure
A or
UL971 pressure rating.
All pipe, both primary and secondary, shall be 100% hydrotested
atthefactory before shipment ataminimum pressure of 265
psig
and shall be UL971-2004 Listed and Labeled.
Fiber Glass Systems I NAY P°do°°5 """= fgspipe@nov.com nov.com/fgs
