North County RC&SL Page 13 of 64 Public Works/Solid Waste <br />Joint Technical Document County of San Joaquin – Revised July 14, 2025 <br />4 PHYSICAL SETTING <br /> ___________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />4.1 TOPOGRAPHY <br />The elevation at the site (including refuse fill) varies between approximately 110 and 200 feet <br />MSL. Predevelopment elevation at the landfill ranged between 115 and 125 feet MSL (Plate 8). <br />Land within a mile of the site varies from approximately 100 on the western side of the site to 150 <br />feet MSL northeast of the site (Plates 7 and 8). <br /> <br />4.2 CLIMATOLOGY <br />4.2.1 Isohyetal Map <br />The isohyetal map for the NCRC&SL indicates rainfall of approximately 17 inches per year <br />(Plate 9). The isohyetal Map of San Joaquin County was developed in “Storm Drainage Study <br />and Master Plan, San Joaquin County, January 1973”. <br /> <br />4.2.2 Floodplain <br />The NCRC&SL is outside all documented floodplain boundaries (Plate 10). The site and <br />surrounding areas are located in Zone C, which is identified as “Areas of minimal flooding”. Much <br />of the drainage from the site is routed to interim detention basins and into an existing offsite <br />drainage system (Plate 3 and Section 5.5). <br /> <br />The site has been evaluated with respect to current 100 year flood maps (Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency Flood Insurance Rate Map, San Joaquin County, California (unincorporated <br />Areas), Panel 365 of 925, May 1980. The site is not within the 100-year flood plain (Zone A), but <br />rather is classified as Zone C, defined as areas of minimal flooding). <br />
