Set-up general work area - Slips/Trips/Falls
- Struck by Equipment
- Eye Injuries
- Sharp objects
- Handling heavy objects
1. Watch where you walk, be aware of uneven terrain, where
boots with adequate tread and a raised heel. Clear pathways of
tools, materials, vegetation, etc.
2. Stay clear of other equipment or vehicles in the area, do not
work with your back toward traffic. Use orange construction
fence, delineators and signage to clearly delineate the exclusion
zone.
3. Wear form fitting Z-87 safety glasses at all times.
4. Be aware of sharp edges on tools, material and equipment
during set up. Visually scan for hazards and use the Mental Risk
Assessment (MRA) tool to help mitigate hazards.
5. Use proper lifting techniques when moving trencher or lifting
silt fence. Do not lift more than 50 lbs. without using the "buddy
system" or mechanical means. Lift with your legs and not your
back, keep a firm grip, keep the load in close to your body, do
not over reach or extend while lifting. Stop if you cannot
manually lift the load in a safe manner.
L
NC-25-1137 Tiwana & Sons
1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, CA 95210
