Equipment Inspection - Stinging Insects <br />- Back injury <br />- Battery Discharge <br />- Biological Hazards <br />- Combustible materials <br />- Cuts and/or Abrasions <br />- Excessive Noise <br />- Improper Lock Out Tag Out <br />- Lock-Out/Tag-Out <br />- Pinch Points <br />1. Visually scan work area for insects and avoid them as much as <br />possible, do a walk around of equipment to make sure no other <br />biohazards exist. <br />2. Maintain upright body posture when inspecting equipment, <br />keep a firm grip on handles when climbing on/off equipment. <br />3. Check battery connections and voltage on display. <br />4. Visually scan around the equipment prior to use and ensure <br />there are no snakes or biohazards around the bottom areas. <br />5. Remove all trash, debris or materials that could be a fire <br />hazard, check that equipment fire extinguisher is readily <br />available. If unequipped, keep a 20 lbs. ABC Fire Extinguisher <br />within 100 feet of the equipment. <br />Prior to using equipment, ensure that the daily equipment <br />inspection is completed, only trained and authorized employees <br />SHALL complete inspection, ensure that all controls are <br />inspected and in good working condition, verify that all warning <br />decals are legible and that Manufacturers equipment manual is <br />readily available. <br />6. Do no place hands in equipment engine compartment when <br />running, be aware of access panels and do not place hands <br />between objects that could cause pinching or crushing. <br />7. Wear double hearing protection (ear plugs with ear muffs) <br />when operating as machine produces 95 Db or above. <br />8. Be sure that equipment lockout/tagout is performed by an <br />authorized mechanic only. Improper LOTO may result in bodily <br />injury. Note: Steps in operators manual must be followed in <br />order to safely bleed pressurized systems and for LOTO. <br />9. Only an authorized mechanic may perform LOTO of <br />equipment. if safety-related defects or malfunctions are <br />detected, shut down the machine and notify your Supervisor. <br />10.
