Follow all guidelines in Hot Work Permit. Coordinate clearing and grubbing
of vegetation prior to Hot Work, Pre-wet surrounding areas, do not conduct hot
work in windy conditions, Designate a Fire Watch for 30 minutes after, wet
areas after Hot Work ceases. Identify and avoid combustible materials and conditions: Building floors,
partitions, and roofs. Building contents, such as wood, paper, clothing, plastics,
chemicals, and flammable liquids and gases. Outdoor combustible materials,
including dry leaves, grass, and brush.
Flammable gases, vapors, liquids, and dusts, remove combustible materials
from the work area, or move the work to a location well away from combustible
materials. If relocating the work or materials is impossible, cover the
combustible materials with fire-resistant material. Remove or cover
combustible materials within a radius of 35 ft. (10 m) of the work area.
8. Place tanks upright, chained securely in a cart on level ground. Securely
tighten valves, do not place hoses where the could become damaged.
9. Do not lift more than 50 lbs without usng the buddy system or mechanical
means, manual lift with your legs not your back, keep a firm grip, hold load
close to your body, Stop if load is too heavy or akward.
11. Keep oxygen and/or acetylene tanks securely fastened in their cart on flat
ground.
12. When working in enclosed areas or confined space, always monitor
atmospheric conditions to ensure no toxic environment or explosion hazard
exits. (Oxygen, LEL, H2s, CO, HC).
13. Use caution tape, snow fence, barricades, signage or spotter to prevent
unauthorized entry of work area. Communicate to client and other essential
personnel associated with the project.
14. Always Don a faceshield when cutting, grinding, operating a demo saw.
