Pressure Wash UST - Sprains and Strains <br />- High Pressure Spray <br />- Inadequate Tools or Equipment <br />- Splash <br />- Hot Surfaces <br />- Slips/Trips/Falls <br />- Noise above 85 dBA <br />- Trailer or Vehicle Rolling <br />- Refueling <br />- Spills <br />1. Keep a firm grip on pressure gun, always work in a <br />comfortable upright position, bend at the knees, take periodic <br />breaks or use the "buddy system" to shorten work cycles, use a <br />variable pressure wand with long lance to reach inside tank. <br />2. Check connections of high pressure hoses for tightness/leaks, <br />Keep a firm grip on gun do not start pressure washing until <br />spray nozzle is pointed inside the UST, turn pressure washer <br />"off" before removing the wand, do not point tip of wand at <br />people or property. <br />3. Visually inspect tools and equipment prior to use. Do not use <br />broken or compromised tools. <br />4. Wear googles and face shield while washing, never aim wand <br />tip into a corner when washing. <br />5. Do not place hands on or near muffler, hot water burner of <br />pressure and/or metal quick connects on hoses as temperatures <br />exceed 200 degrees F. <br />6. Watch where you walk, be aware of slippery or uneven <br />surfaces, lift your feet. Ensure walkways are free of obstructions <br />such as tools material and equipment, Practice good <br />housekeeping. Be aware of hand and foot placement always <br />when moving and using the washer. <br />7. Always wear hearing protection when operating the pressure <br />washer. <br />8. Chock tires on trailer-mounted pressure and/or vehicle. Set <br />parking brake on tow vehicle. <br />9. Turn Pressure Washer "Off" during refueling, allow unit to <br />cool down, use DOT approved fuel cans only, Do not overfill <br />gasoline or diesel tanks, Keep a spill kit readily available, place <br />fuel cans in spill tray when done. <br />10. In case of spill, use absorbent pads and/or socks to absorb <br />fuel, utilize visqueen as a barrier to prevent any dripped fuel to <br />contact soil or ground.
