Revised: 08/03/2024 4 of 6
Job Steps Hazards Actions to Eliminate or Minimize Hazards RAC
Connect air supply line from compressor to diaphragm pump.Check all fittings and clamps for leaks prior to use.
6. Pump Activation and Fuel
Transfer
- Fire/Explosion
- High Pressure Air
- Improperly connected hose
- Inhalation of Hazardous
Vapors/Gases
- Leaks / Spills
- Skin Contact
1. Use a (4) Gas Meter to monitor fuels vapors, verify that the
fuel discharge hose is grounded and bonded properly prior to
activation, flowing fuel can generate static electricity, which can
ignite the vapors if not properly grounded.
2.Be aware that pneumatic pump operates under high pressure,
which can cause hose or fitting failures, leading to leaks or
bursts. Aim hoses away from yourself, do not place your face in
the line-of fire.
3. Verify that the fuel inlet hose is placed into the fuel supply
adequately, check the fuel discharge hose end to ensure it is
secure and will not fall out during operation and create a spill.
4. If VOCs are detected between 10-50 ppm don an air purifying
respirator (APR) with organic vapor cartridges.
5. Do not leave pump unattended while operating, keep a spill
kit readily available in the work area.
6. Wear long sleeves, goggles and nitrile gloves as fuel can
cause skin irritation, burns, or dermatitis upon contact.
H
NC-25-1137 Tiwana & Sons
1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, CA 95210
