Foothill Landfill
Monitoring Implementation Plan

MIP Page 20
4.3 Analytical Quality Assurance / Quality Control
To ensure that the analytical data is reliable and defendable, the laboratory is instructed to
include the following information with the final analytical reports:
• Copies of all laboratory QA/QC data, including matrix spikes, duplicate analyses,
blanks, blank spikes, etc. (Level 2 QA/QC)
• Date and time of analyses
• Name of chemist or technician who performed analyses
• Analytical and extraction methods
• A perjury statement executed by the person responsible for the laboratory
All of the above information should be reviewed by qualified personnel to ensure that proper
analytical methods and procedures were followed. The information should be reviewed
specifically to determine if the samples were analyzed using the proper analytical methods
and within holding times, and if the QA/QC data are within allowable limits set by the
laboratory. If there are any discrepancies in the laboratory data, the laboratory should be
contacted to discuss the discrepancies. An explanation for the discrepancies should be
included in the annual report.
