2. Evaluate the spill situation (identify the source, type of material and quantities involved, <br /> possible safety risks to Cintas partners and possible impacts on the natural environment). <br /> 3. Contact your chemical-environmental engineer for input/guidance.Also compete internal <br /> notifications to Safety, General Manager and Production Director. <br /> 4. Stop the source to prevent further release, if safe to do so. <br /> 5. If required, isolate the spill area to prevent access and/or use intercom to notify <br /> partners. <br /> 6. If spill is too large or too dangerous to be cleaned up quickly, completely and safely <br /> using own resources - contact external spill response contractor immediately. On site <br /> trained spill clean-up individuals shall not clean a spill exceeding 55 gallons. <br /> 7. Use Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)that is appropriate for the spilled material. <br /> Consult SDS, if necessary. <br /> 8. Commence the containment and clean-up action.At all times ensure safety of the <br /> partner(s) performing the clean-up. Use absorbents or other techniques as may be <br /> appropriate to contain and collect the spilled material. Repeat absorbent application until <br /> surface is dry. <br /> 9. Protect floor trenches,drains and catch basins with neoprene covers and/or absorbent <br /> socks and mats. Prevent entry of the spilled material into external drains or spread onto <br /> unpaved ground surface. <br /> 10. Complete external notifications as outlined in the Agency Notifications section. <br /> 11. Collect all spill cleanup waste in a compatible container. Contact waste disposal vendor <br /> for assistance with waste characterization and disposal. <br /> 12. Transferring the collected spill material into a floor pit for subsequent treatment in the <br /> DAF system is only allowed if the following criteria are met: <br /> • Contaminants can be completely removed or neutralized in the treatment system, and <br /> • The material will not cause a deterioration of the treatment system resulting in <br /> violation of the discharge permit conditions. <br /> If in doubt, contact your chemical vendor and chemical-environmental engineer for <br /> assistance. <br />
