Cintas Corporation <br /> Wastewater Treatment Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) <br /> Secondary Treatment Systems DAF and ASH <br /> SOPNO.:RE.000.WW.001 <br /> Title: Startup/Shutdown Procedure Revision: 1 <br /> Date of Issuance: July 21,2005 <br /> Pa e 1 of 2 <br /> SCOPE <br /> This procedure should be used when operating secondary wastewater treatment systems. This includes all DAF <br /> (Water Resources,Hydron,Ellis,Sierra,HMS,or Kemco)and ASH(Kemco)systems. Follow all procedure <br /> steps that apply to your specific treatment system setup. <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of this procedure is to describe the critical procedures for startup and shutdown of these systems. <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> This procedure must be followed by all wastewater treatment operators,supervisors,and plant managers. <br /> PRE-STARTUP PROCEDURE <br /> The following procedure is to be followed 21ior to all initial startups after overnight or weekend shutdowns. <br /> ]. Tura ON equalization tank mixing system(AUTO at control panel or PLC touch screen if applicable). <br /> 2. Activate pH control system(open acid pump discharge valve and set pump to AUTO control). <br /> 3. Check the pH reading on the pH controller(clean and calibrate probe if needed). <br /> 4. DAF/ASH should be free of any bottom sludge buildup prior[o startup. <br /> ANYSOL/DS LEFT/N THE SYSTEM WILL CAUSE HEAVY CARRYOVER FOR u Te bottom <br /> AFTER STARTUPe <br /> Purge bottom sludge if needed. <br /> 5. Check the water level in the DAF/ASH and fill to effluent weir level if needed. <br /> ' a <br /> 6• Make sure the compressed air source is functioning appropriate level(per manufacturer specifications), and adjust both air pressure and air flow rate to <br /> the <br /> 7. For DAF systems,before pumping <br /> rum recirculation pump ON(AUTO ifa <br /> wastewater the DAF, applicable). <br /> Run the pump for 30-60 minutes '8• Turn the skimmer system(top and bottom if applicable)to AUTO(should be controlled b 1 <br /> SOPS. (flocculant and clay if applicable) Y a timer), <br /> Start mixers in each tank only <br /> when water level is above mixer <br /> er bladoduct esa water per chemical vendor <br /> 10. Check liquid level in all treatment chemical containers <br /> needed.
