Indoor and outdoor air
samples will be collected in individually certified summa canisters and analyzed for VOCs using USEPA
Method TO-15 SIM.
Soil Gas Sampling
New and previously installed soil gas probes will be sampled accordance with the Advisory—Active Soil
Gas Investigations.2 A total of eight samples will be collected in batch-certified summa canisters,
including one duplicate sample, and submitted to a California-certified analytical laboratory under chain-
of-custody protocol for the following analyses:
• VOCs using EPA Method TO-15; and
• Helium (leak-detection compound) and fixed gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, and methane, using modified ASTM D-1946.
Investigation-Derived Waste
Soil generated from drilling activities and water generated from sampling, development, and
decontamination activities will be containerized in drums and stored onsite in a location identified by
the client, pending analysis. An up to 4-point composite sample will be collected from the solid (soil)
investigation derived waste (IDW) drums and one 4-point composite sample will be collected from the
liquid IDW drums. Each sample will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory under chain-of-custody
protocols. IDW samples will be analyzed for the following:
• Title 22 metals using USEPA Method 6010;
• VOCs and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline (TPH-g) using USEPA Method 8260B; and
• TPH as diesel (TPH-d) and motor oil (TPH-mo) using USEPA Method 8015 Modified.
IDW drum(s)will be labeled and stored on-Site while being profiled with the appropriate landfill and will
be collected for disposal within approximately 30 days. Disposal costs for six soil drums and two water
drums are included. The soil and water are assumed to be non-hazardous.
1 California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and California Water Resources Control Boards,
Supplemental Guidance:Screening and Evaluating Vapor Intrusion, February 2023.
Z California Environmental Protection Agency Department of Toxic Substances Control, Los Angeles RWQCB, and San
Francisco RWQCB,Advisory—Active Soil Gas Investigations, 2015.
\4 Page 4of7
