SITE-SPECIFIC HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN FOR PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT <br /> Emergency Response <br /> July 7, 2023 <br /> 1.5 EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES: INJURY OR ILLNESS <br /> If an injury or illness occurs, take the following action: <br /> • Stop Work, stabilize the situation, and secure the site. <br /> • Administer First Aid for the person immediately using a first aid and blood-borne pathogens kit. <br /> • Determine if emergency response (fire/ambulance) is necessary. If so, call appropriate <br /> emergency response numbers on closest available phone. Provide the location of the injured <br /> person and other details as requested. Drive the individual to the hospital only if it makes sense. <br /> • If emergency decontamination is required: <br /> o Immediately remove contaminated personal protective equipment(PPE) or clothing. <br /> o If possible, wash contaminated area with mild soap and water. <br /> o Use eyewash station if necessary. <br /> o Personnel assisting the contaminated individual will don the proper PPE to avoid <br /> unnecessary exposures. <br /> • For all injuries or illness, even minor cuts, scratches, and bruises, notify the SHSO immediately. <br /> The SHSO is responsible for initiating incident reporting procedures immediately after the <br /> victim(s)/site have been stabilized. The SHSO will assume responsibility during a medical <br /> emergency until more qualified emergency response personnel arrive at the site as needed. <br /> • As promptly as possible following an injury or illness, ensure appropriate notification has been <br /> made to the family of the individual involved. <br /> • Please see Section 1.6 for incident reporting procedures. <br /> 1.5.1 Injuries or Illnesses Requiring Hospital Service WITHOUT Ambulance <br /> Service <br /> Injuries or illnesses requiring hospital service without ambulance services include minor lacerations, minor <br /> sprains, etc. The following procedures will be taken immediately: <br /> • The SHSO will ensure prompt transportation of the injured person to a physician or hospital. <br /> • A representative of Stantec will drive the injured employee to the medical facility and remain at <br /> the facility until the employee is ready to return. <br /> Stantec <br /> 1.2 <br />
