March 18 2020
Page 3
field conditions and available time.
Based on review of reports for a nearby site (GeoTracker ID T0607700064, Mobil
Gas Station, 2132 East Mariposa Road), groundwater in the site vicinity is expected
to flow to the northeast. The proposed boring locations will be placed along the
northeastern and southwestern sides of the subject site, as shown on the attached
site map (Figure 1).
• Recover the soil cores in 1.5-inch-diameter acetate liners to be observed by the
field geologist. Continuously log the encountered soil and note any visual sign of
contamination or unusual odors in soil boring logs.
• Field-screen the recovered soil cores for VOCs using a portable photo ionization
detector (PID).
• Collect soil samples from each boring at 5 ft intervals. The samples will be
collected by cutting the interval of the soil core to be sampled and sealing each end
with Teflon septa and plastic caps. Additional soil samples may be collected based
on PID readings, unusual odors and/or visible contamination.
• Collect two shallow soil samples using a hand auger from site areas where surface
oil staining is observed. Additional shallow soil samples rfp1(])ay be collected based on
field observations. / —4-e6-t_
• Collect one groundwater sample from each boring, assuming that sufficient
groundwater is encountered. One duplicate sample will also be collected.
• Sample containers will be provided by McCampbell Analytical, Inc (CDPH ELAP2
#1644) and will include 40-milliliter VOAs3 containing hydrochloric acid as a
preservative, 250-milliliter plastic bottles containing nitric acid as a preservative and
1-liter amber glass jars. Groundwater samples analyzed for metals will be field
filtered. Samples will be stored in an ice-filled cooler and transported to the lab
following chain-of-custody procedures.
• Submit selected soil and groundwater samples to McCampbell Analytical, Inc.
to be analyzed. The analyses requested may include:
o Multi-range TPH4 by 801513m.
o VOCs by 8260B.
o CAM 17 metals5 by 200.8/6020A.
o PCBSS by 8082.
o PNAs/PAHS7 by 8270C
o LUFT 58 metals by 200.8/6020A.
o Organochlorine (OC) Pesticides by 8081A.
3 California Department of Public Health Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program
Volatile organics analysis containers
"Total petroleum hydrocarbons
California Assessment Manual 17 metals(Sb,As,Ba,Be,Cd,Cr,Co,Cu,Pb,Me,Ni,Se,Ag,Ti,V,Zn,Hg)
6 Polychlorinated biphenyls
7 Polynudear aromatic hydrocarbons
a Leaking Underground Fuel Tank 5 metals(Cd,Cr,Ni, Fib,Zn)
SCS700.2-2327 East Mariposa Road
