AECOM <br /> Americas <br /> Overhead Lines & Obstructions S3AM-322-PR1 <br /> 1.0 Purpose and Scope <br /> 1.1 Provides the safe work requirements to be observed where overhead obstructions(e.g., cable trays, pipe <br /> racks, etc.), overhead utilities, or other lines are present at a work location, including, but not limited to <br /> electric power lines, electrical apparatus, or any energized (exposed or insulted)parts, communication <br /> wires, or any other overhead wire or cable. <br /> 1.2 This procedure applies to all AECOM Americas-based employees and operations and any other entity and <br /> its personnel contractually required to comply with this document's content. <br /> 2.0 Terms and Definitions <br /> 2.1 Arc Flash Hazard—A dangerous condition associated with the possible release of energy caused by and <br /> electric arc.Arc flash is the light and heat produced from an electric arc supplied with sufficient electrical <br /> energy to cause substantial damage, harm,fire, or injury. <br /> 2.2 Electrical Hazard—A dangerous condition such that contact or equipment failure can result in electric <br /> shock, arc flash burn,thermal burn, or blast. <br /> 2.3 Minimum Approach Distance(MAD)—The MAD is the closest distance any employee or any part of the <br /> operating equipment is permitted to approach an energized or a grounded object. <br /> 2.4 Qualified Person (Electrical Transmission and Distribution)—A person trained and knowledgeable in <br /> the construction and operation of electrical transmission and distribution equipment or a specific work <br /> method, and has been trained to recognize and avoid electrical hazards that might be present with respect <br /> to that equipment or work method. <br /> 2.5 Types of Overhead Lines/Obstructions (examples): <br /> • Overhead electric power lines <br /> • Structural cable supports <br /> • Guy wires <br /> • Cable television/communication lines <br /> • Cable Trays <br /> • Pipe Racks <br /> • Low Clearance Overpasses <br /> 3.0 References <br /> 3.1 S3AM-004 PR1 Incident Reporting, Notifications& Investigation <br /> 3.2 S3AM-010-PR1 Emergency Response Planning <br /> 3.3 S3AM-209-PR1 Risk Assessment&Management <br /> 3.4 S3AM-302-PR1 Electrical Safety <br /> 3.5 S3AM-303-PR1 Excavation <br /> Overhead Lines&Obstructions(S3AM-322-PR1) <br /> Revision 3 July 31,2019 <br /> PRINTED COPIES ARE UNCONTROLLED.
