A=COM <br /> • Work with employees to see that a Task Hazard Analysis(THA)for the work to be conducted <br /> has been performed prior to the beginning of the field work and that it includes an assessment <br /> of potential biological hazards. <br /> • Implement control measures at the location to reduce the potential for employees to be <br /> exposed to injuries and illnesses from biological hazards while working. <br /> • If the exposures cannot be eliminated or managed with engineering controls, approve the use <br /> and cost of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)and protective repellents and lotions and <br /> confirm that exposed employees have and use these products. <br /> 4.1.2 SH&E Manager <br /> • Confirm training and guidance is provided to employees consistent with this procedure. <br /> • During the performance of site visits, assess the precautions being taken against biological <br /> hazards for compliance with this procedure. <br /> • Assist AECOM personnel in identifying hazards and selecting appropriate control measures. <br /> • As applicable, review and approve relevant SH&E Plans for locations that have biological <br /> hazards. <br /> 4.1.3 Employees <br /> • Participate in required training related this procedure. <br /> • Participate in the development of THAs for the task, identify control measures to limit exposure <br /> and request PPE, repellents, and protective lotions identified by this procedure. <br /> • Update the applicable THA when a new, unaccounted for biological hazard is identified. <br /> Employee shall stop work to identify appropriate elimination or control measures(and obtain <br /> any necessary guidance)before continuing work. <br /> • Obtain approval from Managers and/or Supervisors to purchase selected PPE prior to <br /> purchasing. <br /> • Implement the precautions appropriate to prevent exposure to the hazardous wildlife, insects <br /> and plants. <br /> • Observe requirements for reporting (e.g.tick bites, skin irritations, etc.)as detailed within the <br /> procedure and attachments. <br /> 4.2 Training <br /> 4.2.1 Employees shall be trained to recognize organisms that represent a threat in the regions in which <br /> they work—experienced field staff shall provide on the job training to assist staff with hazard <br /> recognition. <br /> 4.2.2 Employees shall be properly trained to the anticipated tasks and the associated required PPE. <br /> 4.3 Overview <br /> 4.3.1 The procedures discussed below are detailed because these hazards have historically posed the <br /> most significant risk to AECOM employees. Note that this discussion is not a fully encompassing <br /> list of hazards.As part of the SH&E Plan and THA developed by the AECOM personnel, in <br /> accordance with S3AM-209-PR1 Risk Assessment&Management, additional consideration shall <br /> be given to other biological hazards. <br /> 4.3.2 Departments of Public Health local to the worksite, as well as the Centers for Disease Control <br /> (CDC)can serve as a resource for identifying biological hazards not discussed in this procedure. <br /> 4.3.3 If additional biological hazards are identified, employees should stop work and contact the SH&E <br /> Manager to discuss the hazards and identify effective control measures.
