AECOM <br /> SOP 202 - COC and Quality Sample Procedures <br /> 1 SUMMARY: <br /> This procedure outlines standards when completing and handling chain-of-custody <br /> documentation for any type of analytical samples taken and submitted to the lab. <br /> Quality sample standards are also outlined in this procedure. <br /> 2 PROCEDURE: <br /> 2.1 CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY (COC) <br /> • Required analyses should be determined before field work is commenced. <br /> • Sections that are usually prefilled before fieldwork begins include: <br /> o Lab client <br /> o Client project name/number <br /> o P.O. number <br /> o Address and telephone numbers <br /> o Project contact <br /> o Email addresses <br /> o Turnaround time (usually standard turnaround time) <br /> • COC fields that should be filled in, if not prefilled, as soon as possible after samples <br /> are collected include: <br /> o Page numbers <br /> o Sampler signature <br /> o Date <br /> o Sample Identification <br /> o Location/Description <br /> o Sample date <br /> o Sample time <br /> o Matrix (water, soil, soil gas, etc.) <br /> o Number of containers <br /> • Check requested analyses if not prefilled. If prefilled, double-check that the analyses <br /> checked match the bottle set instructed to take. If prefilled analyses do not match the <br /> bottle set consult with the Sampling and Analysis Plan and report discrepancy to project <br /> manager. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
