A4OM
• Once the samples are collected and COC is completed, it is the sampler's responsibility
to submit the samples to the courier or the lab. The signature in the `relinquished by'
field must be the same person that is physically submitting the samples to the
lab.
o If samples are handed over to another person in the office, the sampler must
relinquish the samples to that person by signing them over.
o If samples are placed in a refrigerator for later pick up, the sampler must `relinquish'
the samples to 'AECOM secure fridge'.
• Whomever receives the samples from the person relinquishing the samples must sign
the 'received by' field of the COC.
• Scan and save all documentation.
2.2 QUALITY SAMPLES
During routine sampling events the following quality samples may be required:
• 1 trip blank per cooler with samples to be analyzed for volatile organic analysis (VOA)
per day. Note, the term VOA vials refer to the 40-ml containers used for aqueous
samples.
• sampling of volatile compounds.
o Two VOA vials filled with deionized (DI) water only analyzed for VOCs.
• 1 duplicate sample for every 10 samples taken per event.
o Duplicate sample is taken at a predetermined location and the bottle set is identical
to the original sample set taken and analyzed for the same constituents.
• 1 field blank for every 20 samples taken, or one per day if less than 20 samples are
collected that day.
o Three VOA vials filled with DI water only analyzed for VOCs.
• 1 MS/MSD (volume varies) for every 20 samples taken per event.
o No longer to be submitted as a separate sample but as additional volume to a
predetermined primary sample.
o Must be clearly marked on COC, "PERFORM MS/MSD ON XXX"
• 1 equipment blank per day when using non-dedicated equipment.
o Equipment blank bottle set is identical to the analyses taken for the primary sample
where the non-dedicated equipment was used.
