A4OM
4.2.4 Accuracy
Accuracy is the degree of conformity of a generated value to the true value. The accuracy of
field measurements is generally limited to the sensitivity of the instruments used to make the
measurements. The minimum sensitivities of field instruments used during the monitoring
program are listed below.
Analytical Laboratory Control Samples Surrogate Field Duplicate Completeness
Method (LCS) Samples
Accuracy Precision Accuracy Precision
EPA TO-15, (% Recovery) (RPD) (% Recovery) (RPD) (%)
EPA 8260B
70-130 25 70-130 50 95
5 SAMPLE HANDLING, PACKAGING, SHIPPING,AND CUSTODY
DOCUMENTATION
5.1 Sample Handling
Completed labels will be affixed to all sample containers before or at the time of sample
collection. Pertinent information about the sample will be noted in the field book of the
sampler.
5.2 Sample Packaging and Shipping
Samples will be sent to the analytical laboratory. Arrangements will be made in advance with
the PC and laboratory to ensure that laboratory personnel are available to receive the
samples upon arrival.
Samples will be packaged and shipped in compliance with the DOT and International Air
Transport Association (IATA) regulations for the safe transportation of hazardous
materials/dangerous goods.
The following equipment will be available at the Site in sufficient quantity for packaging and
shipping all samples to be collected during a given sampling event.
• Clear side shipping tape
• Custody seals
• Chain-of-custody forms
• (Non) Sharpie pens (indelible ink) with no VOCs
• "This Side Up" labels
• "Fragile" labels
• Delivery labels
• Adhesive label forms (for lab destination and return address on outside of cooler)
