V
geology consists of recent unconsolidated alluvial and fluvial deposits typically containing sediments that
are a mixture of gravels, sands, silts and clays.
The site is located within the San Joaquin groundwater basin. Beneficial uses of groundwater in the area
include municipal, domestic, irrigation, stock watering, process, and service supply.
2. Proposed Scope of Work
GHD proposes to assess the current condition of well MW-3 through visual inspection and with the
assistance of a licensed C-57 driller. GHD will notify SJCEHD of the scheduled inspection so they have
the option of overseeing the inspection.
If the PVC well casing is not cracked, or is only cracked near surface grade, GHD will repair the well and
associated monument structure.
If the well cannot be repaired, GHD will oversee the full drill-out and re-installation of MW-3. Further
details for each option are described below in Section 2.4. The well location is shown on Figure 2.
To complete the proposed scope of work, GHD will perform the following tasks.
2.1 Site Health and Safety Plan
GHD will update the previously prepared site safety plan to inform site workers of known hazards and to
provide health and safety guidance. The plan will be kept onsite at all times during field activities and
signed by all site workers and visitors.
2.2 Permits
GHD will obtain the necessary permits and notify San Joaquin County a minimum of 48 hours prior to
beginning field operations. GHD will also ensure that the site owners have been notified of the proposed
field schedule.
2.3 Underground Utility Location
GHD will notify Underground Service Alert(USA)at least 72 hours prior to field activities to clear the
monitoring well locations with public utility companies.
2.4 Well Repair or Well Installation
GHD will oversee well repair or well destruction/installation activities by a licensed C-57 driller. As
mentioned above, the stovepipe and well casing were damaged during onsite activities. The well will be
inspected by removing the concrete apron, stovepipe and a portion of the grout seal to determine the
extent of damage to the PVC casing.
112059W-RPT-1-Well Repair Work Plan-2019.dwx 2
